POTS Line Replacement
Copper phone lines (POTS, "plain old telephone service") still run a lot of important equipment: alarm panels, elevator emergency phones, fax machines and entry gates. PeachComm replaces those copper lines with a cellular device that plugs into the same equipment, has its own battery backup, and starts at $55 per line per month.

What is POTS replacement?
POTS replacement means moving the equipment that still runs on a copper phone line (an alarm panel, an elevator phone, a fax machine) onto a new connection, without replacing the equipment itself. PeachComm does it with a small cellular (LTE) device. Your equipment plugs into it the same way it plugged into the wall jack, and the device keeps working on battery if the power goes out.
Why businesses are replacing copper lines
Phone companies are phasing out copper networks. The copper lines that remain tend to get more expensive and slower to repair. When a line fails, the equipment on it stops working: an alarm can't reach the monitoring center, or an elevator phone can't call for help. Moving those lines to a modern connection before they fail keeps your equipment working on a line you control.
What it works with

How switching works
We review your lines. Tell us what each copper line runs today, and we'll confirm the device works with that equipment.
We set up the device. We configure it for your alarm, elevator, fax or other equipment and transfer your numbers where possible.
We test before cutover. We test each line with your equipment (and with your alarm or elevator company where needed) before the copper line is disconnected.
How it works: examples
These are typical examples.
Example: Replacing a fire alarm line
An office building's fire and burglar alarm panel ran on two copper lines to its monitoring center. PeachComm reviewed what each line did and confirmed the panel model with the alarm company. One POTSCAST PC222-LTE, which supports up to 2 lines, was configured for both and installed next to the panel. The alarm company tested signals to the monitoring center before cutover. Now the fire alarm line runs on LTE with dual SIM plus eSIM and 24+ hours of battery standby. The alarm company and fire marshal had the final say.
Example: Moving an elevator phone line off copper
A property manager got a POTS line sunset notice for the elevator emergency phone. PeachComm reviewed the line, the elevator phone and who it dials. The POTSCAST PC222-LTE was configured for the elevator line and installed where the elevator phone connects to the old jack. We tested emergency calls with the elevator company before the copper line was disconnected. The elevator phone line now runs on LTE with its own battery backup, and the existing number was transferred where possible.
Example: Copper line replacement for a fax machine and entry gate
A small business still paid for two copper lines: one for a fax machine, one for a gate entry phone. PeachComm reviewed both and confirmed the fax machine and gate phone models. One POTSCAST PC222-LTE handles both lines, so it was set up with a fax port and a voice port and plugged into the existing equipment. We tested sending and receiving faxes and gate calls before cutover. Both lines now run on LTE with battery backup, and the numbers were kept where possible.
POTS line replacement FAQs
What is a POTS line?
POTS stands for "plain old telephone service," the traditional copper phone line. Many businesses still use POTS lines for alarm panels, elevator phones, fax machines and other analog equipment.
What does POTS line replacement cost with PeachComm?
Line service is $55 per line per month for 1–9 lines, $50 per line at 10 or more lines, and $45 per line at 25 or more lines. The device is $395 to buy, or $15 per month to rent on a 3-year rental term. One device supports up to two lines.
Will it work with our fire alarm or elevator phone?
In most cases, yes. The POTSCAST PC222-LTE supports alarm and elevator lines, and the manufacturer lists it as permitted under NFPA 72 and UL listed. Your alarm company and local fire marshal still have the final say, so we confirm with them before cutover.
What happens if the power goes out?
The device has a built-in battery rated for more than 24 hours of standby, so the lines keep working during an outage.
Does it need our office internet?
No. It connects over LTE cellular, so your alarm, elevator and fax lines don't depend on your office internet or network.
Can we keep our existing phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. PeachComm handles the number transfer from your current carrier.
What is copper line replacement?
Copper line replacement is moving the services on a traditional copper phone line to a newer connection, such as cellular (LTE). PeachComm installs a device your existing alarm, elevator or fax equipment plugs into, so the equipment keeps working after the copper line is disconnected.
Can you replace the phone line for our elevator?
Yes, in most cases. Elevator emergency phones can plug into the POTSCAST PC222-LTE, which the manufacturer lists as approved for elevator use. We test the line with your elevator company before the copper line is disconnected, because they and your local inspector have the final say.
Can you replace the phone line for our fire alarm?
Usually, yes. The device supports fire and burglar alarm panels, and the manufacturer lists it as permitted under NFPA 72 and UL listed. Fire alarm requirements vary by jurisdiction, so we coordinate with your alarm company and confirm what your local fire marshal accepts before cutover.
Are POTS lines being discontinued?
Many phone companies are phasing out copper lines, and the timing varies by carrier and location, often subject to regulatory approval. Ask your current carrier whether notices apply to your lines. Moving early lets you test your equipment on a new connection on your schedule rather than theirs.
Does it work with fax machines?
Yes. It supports fax machines over the cellular connection. If you'd rather drop the fax machine entirely, PeachComm fax to email delivers faxes to your inbox instead.
Who installs the device?
PeachComm can install it for you at $150 per hour, or you can install it yourself.
